Production of the current generation of the G-Class began in summer 2018 and was the first major restyling in 40 years. With a new chassis, new driving modes and three 100 percent differential locks, the new G-Class is more comfortable and agile than ever and capable of tackling the toughest of terrain.
Since the update for the 2021 model year, the G-Class has been equipped with a reversing camera and a new desert driving mode as standard. The G-Manufaktur program also added new personalization options with new exterior colors and equipment packages. This has proven to be extremely popular and accounts for around 60 percent of all G-Class orders.
Starting at $ 201,750, the 2021 Mercedes G-Class will be powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 416 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque in the G550 or 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque in the G63 . Looking ahead, spy footage has shown that Mercedes is planning to revive the insane G550 4×4 Squared for a new generation.
