Mercedes-Benz has just opened the order books for its third-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). As of yesterday (October 10), the company started selling the Mercedes-Benz S560 e.
According to the press release from Daimler Pricing for the S560 e PHEV starts at € 96,065 excluding VAT, which is $ 111,023.76 based on current exchange rates. The car is due to arrive at dealerships before the end of October.
Be one S-class Expect the standard luxury that the flagship from Mercedes offers in the S560 e, including the air conditioning as well as the infotainment and driver assistance systems. The special thing about the car, however, is the drive train.
The S560 e is equipped with the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as the latest S450. The device produces 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It also has an electric motor with an output of 90 kW. The combination of V6 and EQ Power Boost increases the total output to 476 hp and 700 Nm of torque. In the meantime, the 0-100 km / h sprint of the PHEV can be achieved in just 5 seconds.
The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 250 km / h. However, if you switch to electrical energy alone, it runs a little more than 133 km / h.
The lithium-ion battery of the S560 e was manufactured by the Daimler subsidiary Deutsche ACCUMOTIVE. The device can store 13.5 kWh and when fully charged in electric mode, the S-Class PHEV has an electric range of up to 50 km.
The S560 e has four operating modes for hybrid powertrain management and five drive programs. These allow the driver to adjust the vehicle’s settings, regardless of whether they want to focus on performance, comfort, fuel economy, electricity or hybrid setup.
