Together with the new one Mercedes-Benz G-Class At the North American International Auto Show 2018 in Detroit, the three-digit star brand also presented the Mercedes-AMG 53 models of the CLS, the E-Class Coupé and the E-Class Cabriolet.

The Mercedes-AMG 53 introduces a new hybrid engine to AMG’s high-performance cars. Under the bonnet of every vehicle with the designation AMG 53 there is a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder. The unit alone develops 435 hp at 6,100 rpm and 520 Nm torque at 1,800 to 5,800 rpm.

The gasoline-powered engine of the Mercedes-AMG 53 is equipped with an exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric auxiliary compressor. In combination with the electrified system from Mercedes, the “EQ Boost”, the AMG 53 receives an additional 22 hp and additional torque of 250 Nm.

All Mercedes-AMG 53 vehicles use the AMG Performance 4MATIC + all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution. The vehicles’ power is distributed via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission.

The latest transmission system from Mercedes promises shorter shift times, a double clutch function and multiple downshifts at the same time, regardless of whether the driver is using the automatic transmission or the vehicle’s paddle shift function.

The Mercedes-AMG 53 have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h. Equipping it with the AMG Driver’s Package increases the values ​​by 20 km / h. On the other hand, the acceleration of the cars from zero to 100 km / h is 4.5 seconds for the CLS 53, 4.4 seconds for the E 53 Coupé and 4.5 seconds for the E 53 Cabriolet.

After all, the combined fuel consumption of the CLS 53 and E 53 Coupé is 8.4 l / 100 km. The E 53 Cabriolet is 8.5 l / 100 km.

design

The Mercedes-AMG 53 has some improvements in design. The vehicles of the series are characterized by a two-leaf radiator grille with a black grid pattern, five-spoke wheel design, A-wing front design, side skirts, redesigned rear apron, tailgate spoiler and round twin tailpipes in chrome.

In the interior, the AMG 53 are equipped with high-quality and sporty themes in the dashboard, steering wheel, foot pedals and seats. Two 12.3-inch touchscreen displays stand out in the interior.
