A cream slice from 2007
The Mercedes-Benz CLK AMG Black series from 2003 is based on the F1 Safety Car and has a performance-enhancing V8 engine with 507 hp, newly designed axles, newly developed AMG coil-over sports suspension and AMG high-performance braking system, guaranteeing driving dynamics at the highest level. The model of the C 209 series, which is limited to just 700 pieces, remains an exception.
The interior of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is no less intrusive. While the rear seats have given way to the lined luggage racks and the handles above the window have been removed, there is space for tight-fitting bucket seats for the driver and front passenger. Automatic air conditioning, electric windows and the navigation system are also available.
ADDITIONAL COOLER FOR GEAR DIFFERENTIAL AND ENGINE OIL
However, the model of the Black Series from Affalterbach contains all technical optimizations. The naturally aspirated engine was increased from 481 to 507 hp and an additional cooler was installed for the gear differential and engine oil. Compared to the production model, the rear axle ratio is six percent shorter, and the seven-speed automatic is now around 20 percent faster than in the previous automatic sport mode. In the manual shift mode of the transmission, there is also no automatic upshift or downshift. However, there was never a purely manual gearshift, which was often desirable for a sports car.
The newly developed coilover kit for the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG The Black Series is fully customizable. Solid struts support the struts against each other and give the model more rigidity.
CLK 63 AMG BLACK SERIES WITH 507 HP AND 630 NM TORQUE
The CLK 63 AMG Black Series model with a weight of 1.8 tons has a V8 vacuum cleaner with a displacement of 6,208 cm³ (M 156 E 63 V8 petrol engine) and an output of 373 kW / 507 hp at 6,800 rpm The maximum torque of 630 Nm is achieved at 5,250 rpm. While AMG sets the model to accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds, the model locks electronically at 300 km / h. The consumption of the 141,610 euro model at the time was 15.9 liters of Super per 100 km. Speaking of price: Compared to the 481 hp CLK 63 AMG for 89,900 euros, the limited “Black Series” cost almost 50,000 euros more.
Compared to the normal CLK AMG with 481 hp, the Black Series Edition of AMG can only be compared to a very limited extent, but the relationship to the safety car of the 2003 F1 season is too close. Only the front has been torn open for better ventilation, the fenders widened and gills pierced.
The CLK with the dark soul
Even if the model was politically incorrect when it was launched in 2007 and consumed too much, a Black Series model continues to fascinate today. If everything fits, the potent CLK offers a special kind of experience – whereby the naturally aspirated V8 with its power of 630 Newton meters can pull so hard on the asphalt that the traction control has a lot to do. So the ” Black series “Go forward like there’s no tomorrow – and while you’re still thinking about where to extend this thing, the speedometer needle is already over 200 km / h.
