The 2021 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet is due to be launched in the US later this year and features a new engine, updated infotainment system, new steering wheel, the latest driver assistance technologies and a minor facelift, the brand announced Tuesday.

Mercedes has so far shared that both the Coupe and Cabriolet will be offered in E450, E450 and 4Matic all-wheel drive E53 Models. The E450 models are powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that delivers the same 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque as the 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 it does replaced. The brand’s 48-volt mild hybrid system EQ Boost delivers up to 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and offers stop / start functions as well as a coasting function. A more powerful version of this engine continues in the E53, where according to Mercedes it puts out 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque and takes the E53 coupe from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds (the convertible takes 4.5 seconds ). Both engines are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The E450 models are equipped with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, while the E53 have a sportier version of the 4Matic all-wheel drive as standard.
In contrast to the sedan, Mercedes has not announced any plans for a 255 hp E350 powered by a 2.0-liter turbo 4 or an E350e plug-in hybrid in the coupe or convertible. We expect high-performance E63 models to return.
The most obvious changes are on the outside, where the coupe and convertible are redesigned front and rear. The E450 models have a new diamond grille, flatter LED headlights with a different interior design and new LED taillights. The E53 will receive an AMG radiator grille with vertical bars, new LED headlights, two-part LED taillights and a revised rear bumper with a new diffuser insert. The E53 also have new 19-inch wheels, and all models have an expanded exterior color palette.
Inside, the two screens of the 12.3-inch instrument cluster and the infotainment system return as one large unit on all E-Class models, but the Coupé and Cabriolet adopt the MBUX user interface with voice control, which is indicated by the keywords “Hey Mercedes “is activated. On all models, a new steering wheel has capacitive touch controls that can be used in place of the touchscreen or the center touchpad. Automatic emergency braking with cross traffic function and pedestrian detection, blind spot monitors with collision protection, a surround view camera system and an automatic parking function are standard. An available driver assistance package contains an adaptive cruise control that reduces the speed for curves, roundabouts and toll booths. Traffic sign recognition that adjusts the speed of the cruise control; active lane control; automatic lane change; and passenger disembarkation warnings for oncoming cars or bicycles.
All models of the Mercedes E-Class 2021 will be well equipped.

Prices for the 2021 E450 and E53 coupe and convertible models will be available closer to the sale date.
