Is there such a thing as a perfect car? The definition of a perfect car is luxurious, but also powerful and economical. You can get this once you have your hands on that Mercedes-Benz GLE 550e plug-in hybrid. Since Mercedes has already promised to move into an electrified phase in the future, we can expect more of it.
The power and acceleration of this particular car is almost unprecedented and you definitely won’t believe it’s from a plug-in hybrid. In sport mode you can choose between three modes: winter, comfort and individual modes. Power comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 mated with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
With an electric motor, it can cough up a whopping 114 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. The throttle / electronics combo, meanwhile, can produce 436 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm. The car can go 0 to 100 km / h in 5.3 seconds.
Given that this is a 3,000 kilogram SUV, the performance of the GLE 550e is astounding. In fact, it’s just 1.1 seconds slower than the GLE 63 S, which can produce 577 horsepower.
The fuel efficiency is mainly due to the standard 4Matic all-wheel drive offered by the GLE 550e plug-in. With a fully charged battery, the GLE 550e can cover an average of 1.9 l / 100 kilometers over a 27-hour kilometer. When driving in the city is taken into account, the speeds are between 50 and 80 km / h.
